A former newspaper journalist, Ann Taylor is a senior-level public relations and marketing strategist. She has more than two decades of experience working for both large companies, as well as startups in a wide variety of industries. Her expertise includes strategy, content marketing, product launches, media relations, trade shows/events and analyst relations. She has worked both domestically, as well as internationally.
Upon moving to Austin in 1992, Ann began a storied career with large technology companies including IBM/Tivoli Systems and BMC serving as Public Relations and Analyst Relations Director. For each company, she was responsible for executing a new business segment launch in New York City. She also secured and managed media coverage for both companies landing articles in publications such as Fortune, Wall Street Journal, Information Week, PC Magazine and in national, state and local print, radio and television outlets.
From 2000-2008, Ann was instrumental in positioning and gaining market share for five startup companies including Whole Security (now part of Symantec), Neverfail and RenewData.
In 2009, Taylor moved into the nonprofit world becoming the VP Marketing & Communications for United Way of Greater Austin, where she rebuilt the department and increased fundraising within her first year.
Her experience includes crisis communications, working directly for the Austin Police Chief as Director of Public Information in the early 1990’s, as well as handling public relations for a teacher strike for the Fremont Unified School District in California.
Ann graduated from the California State University, Fresno with a BA degree in journalism. In 2009, she received a master’s certificate in Social Media/Internet Marketing from the University of San Francisco.
